Palaeolithic implements found at Crowlink Gap, Friston

Description:  A pointed ovate implement was found by R. Hilton at Crowlink Gap and identified by Sir John Evans as a possible Palaeolithic flint although found on the surface. (It may be included in the list of implements in NT SMR 140632).
In addition 4 Palaeolithic handaxes and 1 retouched flake were found at Crowlink Farm. Archaeological Comments - Site:140635*0 This is one of several records of prehistoric flints being recovered in the Crowlink and Birling area. There are likely to be further such finds in the future. It is important that the exact location of the sites and context of the finds are recorded in order to build up a more detailed picture of the distribution of prehistoric activity across the estate.
