A further visit to Happisburgh with Roy Shephard-Thorn and Peter Robins. The deposit which produced the hand-axe well exposed in late afternoon at low tide. Peter found a mint hand-axe finishing flake in situ within it.
Happisburgh, Norfolk, 2/9/2000
With Roy Shephard-Thorn to witness drilling of a bore-hole on the beach between the foreshore exposure and the cliff in the hope of establishing the contact of the exposure and the glacial deposits of the cliffs. This conducted by Prof. Jim Rose and his students - Adrian Palmer, Jonathan Lee and Eleanor Brown. Difference in level between surface of till on beach and foreshore deposit levelled and found to be 3.2m. Depth of bore at 4m failed to find it.
Prof. RG West present, also Steve Booth of BES and Mr M Chambers of Stalham, who found the hand-axe.
