Concrete-faced type 22 pillbox, sunk into ground. Protected doorway.

Type 22 pillbox of variant form, with covered guarded entrance and double Y-shaped blast wall: bolts fitted below embrasures for vertical wood shelf supports. Wood-shuttered exterior and interior. Entrance is half-blocked by brickwork on steel bars. Situated on N side of Canal with field of fire S across Canal to railway. Identification no.62. 5 x medium embrasures; 1 x small entrance embrasure. with PLAN drawn on form.

 South East Command: Stop Line (Oare to Warehorne) - This stop line (known as Grid Line LG - LH - LI - WA) ran from Oare to Charing to Ashford to Warehorne. There were forward defences  and roadblocks in the section from Oare to Charing, but, from Charing to Warehorne,  pillboxes sited in depth and camouflaged. [Source: Operation Instruction No. 20 dated 18.2.41 in War Diary of 6 Btn. Cheshire Regt. (PRO WO 166/4195]. 

 
 South East Command: Stop Line (Romney Marsh) - Stop Line from Rye (East Sussex) to Sandgate E of Hythe (Kent), following the line of the Royal Military Canal.
