Comments on the Readings (Tomlin)	No sign of medial point after Q. VA ligatured. The horizontals of L and E are lost in the border. No room for the S of Veranius but may be implied by a possible upward extension of the second diagonal of V.

Notes	Q. Valerius Veranius worked at Bavai, only briefly at the beginning of his career and none of his stamps from Dies 1 and 2 have been found in Britain; they are unlikely to be found far from Bavai. With Die 1 he used a profile totally different from at any later period. See Hartley 1998, 20-201 for drawings and discussion of dies in use at Bavai.
