Reading (Tomlin) | QVI . VAL SE..VN . |
Comments on the Readings (Tomlin) | Quintus is abbreviated to QVI as in the QVI . VALERIVS SE[ dies. Followed by nomen, also abbreviated. This suggests the cognomen began with SE, reading the long diagonal as S like that in LITVGENUS 2 (Die 6), above a small E. Next two letters difficult: apparently G enclosing a curving stroke which might be S reversed, Ieading into IV or N. The reading of the cognomen is thus uncertain; it may even be a bungled SECVNDI. |
