Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

Comments on the Readings (Tomlin)Die 2 pairs GRATVS with G . ATISIVS (abbreviating Gaius as G, not the usual C)
Has Been Found WithC. ATISIVS DIE 2
NotesG.ATISIVS (his praenomen and nomen) was always stamped to one side of the spout, and his cognomen, while GRATVS was always impressed to the other side of the spout. There is no known example of him ever using either stamp alone on a mortarium. Because the individual stamps were invariably stamped to either side of the spout, the stamps are often found alone because of breakage. It can be possible to match a G. ATISIVS stamp with the GRATVS die it belonged with. All of his stamps and in fact all the G.ATISIVS stamps known in Britain are on Gillam form 236 mortaria with their very characteristic spouts.
