Comments on the Readings (Tomlin)The name Brariatus is confirmed by VACASATVS/BRARIATI F. Right border unclear: possibly part of F there.
NotesHe was undoubtedly involved in production at more than one workshop and active over a long period. Production at Bavai and Pont-sur-Sambre (Nord), south of Bavai is certain. His production was on a very large scale, but only one example found to date in Britain (London, Plantation Place <1501>). London mortarium is definitely second century. See Vacasatus, his son who has three stamps in Britain. See Delmaire 1972.
