Rectangular pillbox disguised as a cottage by the open road.
(Source: Article 1993)
Very fine example of a pillbox disguised as a small stone cottage with brick chimney stack and collapsed roof [this is almost certainly how the disguised building was originally built, i.e. as a ruined cottage: the pillbox does not appear to have been inserted within an existing building]. It stands at the side of the road, and interior access is possible. The whole structure is in amazingly good condition, with a corrugated iron shuttered ceiling (roof), a brick interior blast wall, and concrete shelves beneath each of the three main embrasures. These embrasures are in the N and S end walls and in the sea-facing wall (E). The doorway in the W fall is flanked by a rifle port on either side.
