Angled rectangular structure termed a section post. One of three similar structures at this location [see UORNs 6048 and 16498]. Plotted from OS 1:2500 sheet.

Angled section post with 8 embrasures in its N and NE faces. Two doorways at the W and E ends. All concrete. No proper access here as entry to this part of Cowpen Marsh is forbidden because of possible contamination. Despite this warning, however, access is possible via a stile and footbridge. UORNs 6048 and 16498 lie close to the SW and SE forming a remarkable group.
